Surgeon-led spine & regenerative care

Spine care where the patient’s interest is the only interest

Dr. Sethuraman is a Mayo-trained spine surgeon who built this practice on a single principle: your interest comes before ours. That means an honest read of your imaging, every option on the table, and surgery recommended only when it’s genuinely the right call.

  • A fellowship-trained surgeon who tells you the truth — including when you don’t need surgery
  • Minimally invasive and regenerative options, not just the operating room
  • Clear answers and real options, at a higher standard of care

Our approach

What working with us is like

Clarity first, always. Here’s how a patient typically moves through the practice — honest, unhurried, and built around your result.

01

Your imaging, read honestly

Dr. Sethuraman personally reviews your MRI and history, and explains what it actually shows — in plain language, not jargon.

02

Every option on the table

Surgical, minimally invasive, and non-surgical paths, with a straight recommendation — and surgery only when it’s truly warranted.

03

Progress you can measure

If you move forward, your results are tracked against your own imaging and labs, so improvement is documented — not just felt.

Why him

Venkat Sethuraman, MD, MBA, FAAOS, FAARM

The surgeon directing your protocol

  • Mayo Clinic spine fellowship — the diagnostic standard of the best program in the country, pointed at you
Mayo trains less than one percent of spine surgeons in the country, and trains them to find what others miss. The same forensic-grade workup applied to every patient who walks through this door.
  • Wharton MBA · board-certified FAAOS · regenerative-certified FAARM — he reads the science and the broken system behind it
A surgeon who also understands how insurance, pharma, and the standard-of-care economy actually work. You get the clinical depth of a specialist and the strategic clarity of someone who refuses to let the system dictate your care.
  • 1,000+ spine surgeries · 100% focused — which means he knows exactly when you don’t need one
A thousand operations is the experience curve where pattern recognition becomes instinct. He’s seen what cuts work and what doesn’t, which means he’ll be the first to tell you when surgery isn’t the answer — and what is.
What we treat

Conditions we help with

If your problem is on this list, you’re in the right place — and if it isn’t, we’ll tell you honestly and point you where you need to go.

Herniated & bulging discs

Disc problems in the neck or lower back, with or without nerve involvement.

Sciatica & radiating pain

Pain, numbness, or tingling that travels down an arm or a leg.

Spinal stenosis

Narrowing of the spinal canal causing pain, weakness, or trouble walking.

Degenerative disc disease

Wear-related changes driving chronic neck or back pain over time.

Chronic neck & back pain

Persistent pain that hasn’t resolved with the care you’ve tried so far.

A surgery recommendation

You’ve been told you need an operation and want a straight second opinion first.

The patient’s interest is the only interest.

It’s the standard we hold ourselves to — and the reason a surgeon will tell you when you don’t need surgery. It even begins with a free review of your MRI, before you owe us anything.

His why

Built for the patient facing a decision they can’t undo

Too many spine patients are handed a surgery date by the one person who profits from it — with no one offering a straight second look. Dr. Sethuraman built this practice to be that second look: read the imaging honestly, lay out every option, and operate only when it’s genuinely the right call.

From patients

The work, in their words

Three patients. Three different paths through the practice — surgery avoided, regenerative medicine, and chronic pain resolved.

“I saw Dr. Sethuraman after having a fall and hurting my neck and shoulder. He did a thorough evaluation and helped me avoid surgery. He referred me to physical therapy with his team for a partial rotator cuff tear… I am back to my usual activities. I would highly recommend Dr. Sethuraman.”

K Krista S. Google Review

“I had regenerative knee joint injection with exosomes. I was initially on crutches when I came, but now back to my usual activities and playing golf again. Pain is minimal. My pickleball game has highly picked up! I’m looking forward to my 3rd injection.”

G Guy R. Google Review

“Had a herniated disk for a year and was in incredible pain 24/7. Dr. Seth immediately spotted the problem, got me ready for surgery quickly, even dealing with the insurance company, and got rid of the pain. There was an immediate change from when I went to sleep to when I woke up. I haven’t had any pain since.”

Common questions

What patients ask before a second opinion

Straight answers to the things most people want to know before they send their imaging.

Is the MRI review really free?
Yes. Your initial imaging review with Dr. Sethuraman is complimentary, with no obligation to pursue any treatment. It exists so you can understand what your scan actually shows — and your options — before you decide anything.
Do I have to stop seeing my current doctor?
No. A second opinion is meant to add clarity, not replace your relationship with your physician. Many patients use it to feel more confident about a plan they’ve already been given — or to understand alternatives before committing to surgery.
Do you take my insurance? How does payment work?
Spine Physicians Institute is a cash-pay practice. That structure lets us spend real time with you and keep your interests — not an insurer’s — at the center of every decision. The MRI review itself is free, and if you choose to move forward, we’re transparent about pricing up front and will walk you through costs and any available payment options before you commit to anything.
What happens after the review?
Dr. Sethuraman explains what your imaging shows and lays out the full range of paths open to you — surgical, minimally invasive, and non-surgical. If one of our programs is a fit, we’ll outline it clearly. If it isn’t, we’ll tell you that too.
Is the review in person or virtual?
Your initial second-opinion review is conducted by secure telehealth, so you can do it from home. Any in-person care follows only if and when it’s warranted.
How soon can I be seen?
Most reviews can be scheduled within days. When you request yours, we’ll confirm what we need from you and book the soonest time that works.
What if it turns out I do need surgery?
Dr. Sethuraman is a fellowship-trained spine surgeon who has performed more than 1,000 operations. If surgery is genuinely the right call, you’ll be in experienced hands — and you’ll understand exactly why it’s being recommended before you proceed.
